In this series , we are highlighting areas that often get overlooked , even in cities with high demand.

We talked about Mormon Island in EDH and The Beamer Neighborhood in Woodland , today we are making the drive to the edifice of higher learning know as Davis, CA.

Within this college town is a community known as the Village Homes Neighborhood which was built in the decade of experimentation as a way to explore sustainable environmentally friendly living , complete with solar heating and DIY food.  In keeping with its surroundings the streets are named after J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, The streets are full of fruit trees in place of the standard ornamental that are to be found in nearly every other California city landscaping.

From past dignitaries such as  First Lady Rosalynn Carter and French President Francoise Mitterand , to the constant stream of academics and professionals that move their families here every year , a home in this area stays in high demand. Bidding wars bid the prices up and way , so that only the most committed are rewarded.
